Across the lower part of the composition appears the characteristic textual element “on ne meurt pas d’amour”, rendered in contrasting red lettering. The combination of cinematic imagery and short, psychologically charged phrases is strongly associated with Clarysse’s artistic practice.
Signed and dated “Johan Clarysse 2005” on the reverse. The stretcher also bears a label from Arcade – moderne & hedendaagse kunst, Burgstraat 18, Ghent, providing additional provenance.
