Originally conceived in 1928 and presented at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1929, the LC4 has become one of the most recognisable pieces of 20th-century modernist furniture. Designed around the contours of the human body, its continuously adjustable reclining position earned it the nickname “relaxation machine.”

This example features a black leather upholstered reclining surface and headrest, supported by the characteristic curved chrome-plated steel frame resting freely on a black lacquered steel base. The upper frame can be repositioned along the base to achieve different reclining angles.

The chaise is clearly marked with the Cassina manufacturer’s stamp, the designers’ signature and identification number No. 48072, confirming it as an authentic Cassina production.
