Designed by renowned Japanese architect and designer Junzo Sakakura, these iconic Model 3221 chairs were created for Tendo Mokko in 1953. Crafted from beautifully shaped beechwood and beech plywood, they are celebrated for their minimalist aesthetic, sculptural silhouette, and outstanding craftsmanship. The design perfectly reflects the harmony between Japanese simplicity and European modernism, influenced by Sakakura’s time working with Le Corbusier.
The elegant curved backrest and softly rounded seat offer surprising comfort, while the distinctive tapered legs give the chairs their timeless architectural appearance. Today, the Model 3221 is regarded as one of the most collectible pieces of post-war Japanese design.
These chairs remain in very good vintage condition with a warm honey-toned finish and a beautiful natural patina. Minor signs of age and use are consistent with their vintage character and only add to their authenticity.
