Philippe Wolfers Pewter Pitcher

This sculptural piece showcases Wolfers’ mastery of organic form and expressive design — the pitcher takes the shape of an elderly man’s face, his beard flowing seamlessly into the vessel’s body. The lid is adorned with berries and leaves, a hallmark of Wolfers’ nature-inspired aesthetic.

About the Wolfers Family

The Wolfers dynasty stands as one of Belgium’s foremost artistic families.

Founded by Louis Wolfers (1828–1892), the Wolfers workshop in Brussels became synonymous with exceptional silverwork and design excellence. His son Philippe Wolfers expanded the family’s legacy into the realms of jewelry, sculpture, and decorative arts, becoming a key figure in the Belgian Art Nouveau movement alongside artists such as Victor Horta and Georges Lemmen.

Later generations, including Marcel Wolfers, continued the tradition into the Art Deco period, ensuring that the Wolfers Frères name remained a benchmark of Belgian design and craftsmanship throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
