Johan Clarysse – Lucas 18:26 Gaslight / Ingrid Bergman
This original work by Johan Clarysse combines classic Hollywood imagery with contemporary conceptual painting. The portrait is based on Ingrid Bergman’s unforgettable appearance in the psychological thriller Gaslight (1944), rendered in expressive shades of black, grey and white.
The bright red biblical reference “Lucas 18:26” (Luke 18:26) cuts across the composition, adding a symbolic and thought-provoking layer to the work. The contrast between the cinematic portrait and the biblical text creates a contemporary piece that is both visually powerful and intellectually engaging.
Painted on stretched canvas and signed on the reverse, the artwork is presented ready to hang.
