This traditional African ceremonial mask originates from the Fang people of Gabon. Carved from solid wood, the mask is characterized by its elongated oval form and refined, minimalist facial features. The narrow face, elongated nose, and delicately carved eyes reflect the restrained and spiritual aesthetic typical of Fang sculpture.
The surface shows a deep, naturally aged patina with subtle variations in tone, the result of time, handling, and ceremonial use. Small perforations along the edge indicate former attachment of fibers or costume elements used during masquerade performances. The interior reveals clear hand-carving marks and an old handwritten label identifying Fang, Gabon, reinforcing the authenticity of the piece.
Mounted on a custom metal stand, this mask is presented as a sculptural object ready for display. Its calm presence and strong geometry make it particularly well suited to both contemporary interiors and curated collections of tribal or ethnographic art.
