A deeply expressive Corpus Christi from the 18th century, finely carved in wood and retaining traces of its original polychrome finish. This devotional sculpture represents Christ after the Crucifixion, with a strikingly naturalistic rendering of the body, crowned with thorns and draped in a loincloth.
Despite the passage of time, the statue preserves its spiritual intensity: the downward gaze, the tension in the torso, and the delicately carved drapery convey both suffering and serenity. The remains of polychromy highlight the details and testify to its original lifelike presence.
This monumental figure, carved with skill and devotion, would once have adorned an altar or crucifix, serving as a focal point for prayer and contemplation.
