A striking and authentic Russian Orthodox icon from the early 19th century, depicting St. Paraskeva, a semi-legendary Early Christian martyr. She is widely venerated in the Balkans and Russia, sometimes under the names "Petka" or "Pjatnica", and is often considered a symbolic saint of Good Friday.

In this beautifully crafted icon, St. Paraskeva is shown holding:

  • A scroll in her left hand, inscribed with the opening words of the Creed.
  • A simple white martyr’s cross in her right hand, symbolizing her faith and sacrifice.

Above her crown, the face of Christ appears, flanked by the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, kneeling in reverence. On either side of St. Paraskeva, two smaller figures are depicted:

  • The Guardian Angel (left)
  • St. Mary of Egypt, the revered desert ascetic (right)

This icon is painted in tempera on wood and features a single kovcheg (a recessed central panel), a hallmark of traditional Orthodox iconography.
